Baphomet Series

In my body of work, Baphomet stands as a complex symbol representing the insatiable human quest for arcane and divine knowledge—a journey fraught with uncertainty and the allure of the unknown. This figure encapsulates humanity's enduring pursuit to comprehend the incomprehensible, reflecting our collective experience of seeking truth in a reality that often remains shrouded in mystery.

The images explore the myriad paths we tread in our search for enlightenment. They draw on the paradoxical image of Baphomet—an entity at once revered and reviled—to examine the fine line between wisdom and folly. My works delve into the human tendency towards idolatry, where we elevate those among us who claim to grasp what is essentially beyond reach, those who themselves are ensnared by the same enigma.

The images are in the style of renaissance painting which emerged in Italy between the late 13th and the 16th centuries, signifying a shift from the medieval era to the early modern age. It is marked by a revival of interest in the classical traditions of ancient Greece and Rome. Techniques like linear perspective added depth, and strategic lighting brought drama to their works. Renaissance art, often featuring mythological and biblical narratives, reflected values and philosophical concepts, with portraits highlighting individuality and humanism.
