This Book Does Not Have COVID

I write in the supernatural genre because it's a space to explore themes, experiences, troubles, and challenges in a completely different context. Literary fiction doesn't give me enough space to step outside my limited perspective. When I write in the context of the supernatural, I can step into an alternate reality, view things from a different angle, understand them better, and express my ideas clearly and authentically. It's also way more fun.

I imagine that it's difficult to be a storyteller in the post COVID world. How do you tell the story of something that's still going on? How can you write about a life experience when you're still living it?

Some storytellers have ventured out in that territory by writing about COVID in the literal sense. For all I know, they've been successful. Perhaps audience members find connection and resonance with these stories. I don't know about you, but I am not one of those audience members. When I escape into a story, I want to forget that COVID fucking exists.

We are two years deep into the COVID shit avalanche, and we've all been through a lot. It has affected our family lives, personal lives, livelihoods, physical health, mental health, relationships, communities, and schools. It is the gift that keeps on giving. Whatever 2022 has in store for us, we all deserve a fucking break.

The vampire series that I've written, called the Underground, has been my refuge. When I feel the relentless pressure of the anxiety, uncertainty, and insanity of our times, I go to the Underground.

Scavengers (Underground, #1) is a serial vampire novel with a new chapter published every other Tuesday. Go underground and leave all the bullshit behind.

Twin sisters Sydney and Aidan should be dead. Conned by their estranged father, they turn into vampires and become bastard children in a vampire family that spurns them. At the mercy of the matriarch, their lives are spared. But when the matriarch vanishes, their place in the family becomes uncertain. With a mysterious rival threatening their territory, they are in greater peril than ever.

This story is not a work of art. Obviously, I invested serious time and energy into working my craft, but I'm writing about vampires, for fuck's sake. This thing isn't going to win any awards. All I care about is that it's an entertaining escape for you.

You have my guarantee that Scavengers (Underground, #1) is 100% COVID-free. (It's depressing that that's the nexus of my marketing campaign, but such are the times in which we live.)

It is packed with exciting stuff: vampires, sex, blood, violence, vampires, feuds, dark secrets, dark humor, vampires, more sex, more blood, but best of all, fucking vampires. (And that's just Book 1! Wait until you read Book 2!)

I am publishing it in serial form on my website. There, I will post a new chapter every 2 weeks. For the modest sum of $25, you will gain access to a Member's Area where you can go to the Underground and leave all this bullshit behind.

If you need an escape, some light entertainment, a cozy bedtime story, or just a fucking break, I wrote this story just for you. ❤️
