Child Care Is Keeping Parents Out of the Workforce

According to a report by the U.S. Department of Labor, child care costs account for nearly a fifth of the median family income in high-cost, urban areas. Mothers in those areas were less likely to work to save on costs. In January there were 58,000 fewer daycare workers in the U.S. compared to February 2020.
